For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace
As individuals with different needs, we experience God in different ways. Today was the first time that I recognized how wonderful a counselor the Holy Spirit is. You need the Holy Spirit to be different things, at different times to you. The Holy Spirit is God's Spirit. As I prayed for direction today with some things going on in our business. This is what the Holy Spirit communicated to me:
"When God is ready to do something in our lives, it always starts with "a need". He allows us to experience that need. That is how it is when we get saved. We cannot be saved until we realize our need for Jesus. It is the same with everything else in our lives. God has to show us our need first, so we can turn to Him and then He makes the provision. It is our realized need for Him that draws Him closer to us. It's been that way since time began. Many times your need is your greatest blessing. If you turn to God , it will allow His power to flow through your life.
God's redemptive plan for all humankind, started with "a need". When Adam sinned it separated us from God. The need was that we needed to be reunited with God. That is everybody's most important need. God made a provision, He sent His son Jesus. What is amazing is how God chose to do this. He could have just wiped out sin completely from the world by destroying every person on the face of the earth, because that's the only way he could wipe out sin from the world. But He loves us and what we realize is that the most important thing to Him was not that we be perfect, but that we are in a right relationship with Him. God knew that if we were back in a right relationship with Him, we would start to become more like Him with every passing day. When you think of how God chose to correct the problem of sin in our lives, it is the most loving act you would never be able to conceive with your own mind. There had to be a punishment for sin because God is Holy. Who was going to take the punishment? All of God's wrath had to be poured out because He is righteous and sin had to be punished because He is just. Who was He going to take it out on? Who was going to pay this massive debt that mankind had accumulated against the Creator of heaven and earth. Only 1 person could do it. That person had to be perfect, without blemish. Isn't that something? Why wouldn't he say I'm going to find the most evil person on the face of the earth and then take out all my wrath on him? Why didn't He make Satan pay for the sins of all humankind. He is the one that deceived us. Why not punish the one who started it. Because God wanted to show His love for us above all. So He took the only person who was totally innocent and made Him pay for all the sins of humankind. Think about it for a moment, what is God trying to communicate to His children? He sacrificed someone innocent for your sake and my sake and none of us are innocent. The bible says "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God". Think about that for a minute. Who sacrifices the innocent for the sake of the guilty. Someone who truly loves and cares for "the guilty". Someone who doesn't want to punish you, but wants to love you. Just think about it; the only way God's wrath was going to be satisfied was to sacrifice the innocent for the sake of the guilty. That's how He loves us. WOW!!! To take it a step further, He decides not only would this person be totally innocent, and without any sin, but it would also have to be someone very close to Him, the closest person to Him. That was His Son. His only Son. It's not like He had another Son. It's not like He had another child. He sacrificed His only, innocent son. Only a perfect man could take the wrath of God being poured out on Him for all humankind and not be utterly destroyed. Only a perfect man could pay for my sins and your sins. You can't pay for your own sins, just in case you didn't know. We try to pay for our own sins all the time. But the fact is that Jesus has already paid the ultimate price for your sin and your account with God is settled. He just wants a relationship with you. It's always started with "a need". As we approach this Christmas season and reflect on the birth of Christ, we have serious needs. Just as God provided abundantly and completely when He sent Jesus Christ to die on the cross for us, just like Jesus paid for our sins in FULL!!! Whatever your need is, God will provide out of that same heart of abundance, love, and complete provision. God bless you this Christmas season.
