Lean in and eat!

The Female CEO of Facebook has written a book called "Lean In" Even though that book is not necessarily for me, the concept is for me as a Christian woman. God has been putting on my heart to "lean in" to what He is doing in my life. "Lean in" to the scriptures He is showing me. "Lean in" to the many blessed roles that He has given me: Child of God, Wife, Mother, Steward of many gifts.

The scriptures that I'm leaning into right now are:

John 6:53 New King James Version (NKJV)

53 Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you.

Initially if you hear someone saying that you need to eat of His flesh, and drink His blood; it sounds kind of gross, right? But that's what I love about God. He is so extreme, so intense, so dramatic, so up close and in your face! He is like "don't just look at my flesh and my blood". Eat it, drink it! Receive what I did for you on the cross. Eat it! Drink it! Get it inside you. Get the bread of life inside you, get the blood inside you. Let it nourish you, let it sustain you, let it prosper you, let it heal you, let it restore. Let it saturate your whole being. Goodness gracious! Let me show you another extreme example of God:

Ezekiel 2:8
8 But you, son of man, hear what I say to you. Do not be rebellious like that rebellious house; open your mouth and eat what I give you.”

Ezekiel 3

New King James Version (NKJV)
3 Moreover He said to me, “Son of man, eat what you find; eat this scroll, and go, speak to the house of Israel.” 2 So I opened my mouth, and He caused me to eat that scroll.
3 And He said to me, “Son of man, feed your belly, and fill your stomach with this scroll that I give you.” So I ate, and it was in my mouth like honey in sweetness.

Do you see a pattern here? God was telling the prophet to eat His Word. In the book of John, He is telling us the same thing! God had Ezekiel physically eat the scroll, not because He wants us going around putting books in our mouths, but to illustrate the degree to which we need to engage in His word. Some of us just look at the Word of God, but never read it. Some of us just read the Word of God but never eat it. But let me tell you; God will literally stuff your face with His Word if you let Him. You notice above, in the book of Ezekiel it says "He caused me to eat that scroll". Meaning it wasn't in Ezekiel's own power and merit, but it was God. Wow! That would be a good prayer! Lord cause me to to eat Your Word.

All over the world there is one thing that I would say every culture loves, and that's eating good food! This tells you that it is something that God placed in us. We enjoy eating good food. There is a Psalm that says "Oh taste and see that the Lord is good". The Lord gave us the blessing to be able to taste the goodness of food, but that is also to be applied to His Word. There is an engagement we are suppose to have in His Word that is similar to that of eating food. But it will sustain us a whole lot better than regular food, and it will take us a whole lot further in life. Food does not have the ability to save, but the word of God does!!!!

Testimony - great customers, great tips, $400 refunded from my school, Financial blessings

I had to blog about this.  I couldn't keep this to myself.  Something happened a couple days ago.  Just to share a little bit of the backstory before I tell you, my husband and I had a huge financial crisis about 3 years ago.  Things have gotten better little by little but it takes grind, especially on his part.  He is a great husband and dad so he takes pleasure in providing for his family.  This is a great entry point into what I'm about to share with you.  As we were approaching the beginning of the school year there were some other expenses approaching as well.  My husband and I believe our kids should be involved in extra curricular activities.  As they get older we feel they need constructive ways to channel their energy.  And they need to get away from the constant lure of the Ipad.  This is a big challenge for today's generation and you have to be proactive, especially with your children.  Anyway,  my daughter wa...

Starting your day

When I begin my day with a fast pace and a mind to "get things done" it really never ends well.  I burn out pretty fast.  When I take a "rest stop" at the very beginning of my day with God and linger a little, the day always goes better.  Micah 7:7 says: Therefore I will look to the LORD;       I will wait for the God of my salvation;       My God will hear me.  It seems as if when I don't start my day with God a cycle of self-dependence starts and it never ends well.  When I start my day with God, dependence on Him starts my day and He reminds me during morning devotional time to lean on Him to get through the day.  It helps me to not get "caught up"  I pray that for today, that I don't get caught up.  Noah is home from school, not feeling very well.  I just want to lean on God and trust Him to bring her comfort and help her to heal today.  I'm praying that I to would...

Think before you defend yourself

I get on social media and I do my best not to be critical of anyone.  It's not my place.  I do find it kind of interested how personal relationships, insecurities, and hurts are expressed where the whole world can see.  Social media is like this enigma that continues to spark my interest.  I find myself asking "why would he/she share something so deep and personal with people who don't know them or even care?".  I don't necessarily think it's a bad thing.  I just find myself being very curious and intrigued about why? There is one trend I see, on social media, that sparks a bit of concern.  The amount of time we spend defending ourselves and our decisions on social media.  I get concerned because I realize that when we spend a "noticeable" amount of time defending ourselves publicly, it is a strong indication that their is a much bigger private battle going on within .  Social media speaks volumes to me about inner battles we go through. ...
