Lost Years, Bad Decisions, & Restoration

Have you ever thought that you can't get back the time that you lost?  The years that you lost?  The opportunities that you wasted?  Well I once thought that way.  Many years of my young adult life were spent struggling as a result of one bad decision after another.  Bad financial decisions, bad relationship decisions, bad decisions with my body, bad decisions with my education.  There was a time I thought those opportunities were lost. At forty one years old, it honestly feels like God has restored what was lost.  I am a college student again, I have financial stability again,  I am excited about all the opportunities before me, just like my younger self, before the mistakes that sent my life spiraling downward.  I'm here again standing in a very similar place to that of when I was 19 and 20, in my early years of college.  I haven't stood in this place since then.  There is one difference...........I was not walking with God th...

A glimpse of light in darkness

One of the most important parts of the morning is my coffee mug.   As I rise early and it's still dark,   I creep downstairs and I know I don't need any other light except the blue light on my Keurig .   I quietly fumble around in my cabinets for a coffee mug.   Then a get my creamer out of the fridge.   As a look at my Keurig, I see the water level is low, but it looks like there just might be enough water for one cup.   I take a chance, risking the disappointment of those flashing words on the screen "needs more water".   But my risk pays off and it turns out I have just enough to meet my need at that moment.   What I blessing it is!!   With pure delight, I run upstairs to my room, quietly as not to wake anyone.   My alone time with God is so important. Still without any lights on, I open one of my blinds.   So I can bring in the daylight thinking about God.   I know that in the morning if I get up and seek Him. ...

Let it all go and fall

In the last week, I have come across 2 scenarios that have encouraged me in a "free falling" posture.  One scenario I saw on TV.  It was a special, documenting people's lives.  There was a guy, who climbed this mountain and he ended up slipping, and as he fell through the air, his arms and feet hustled to gain his ground back, but only for a few seconds and then he stoped fighting, relaxes his body and rests into the fall.  He knew he wasn't going to survive the fall and he didn't fight what was coming. Then, there was another scenario, I read about in a book called "Discovering Your Soul Signature".  This was a true story as well.  There was a young women who was driving her "Mini Cooper" down the street and she was rear ended by a school bus that was going about 50 miles per hour.  Her car wrecked, but she opened the door and got out the car with no injuries, and she said " that at the moment of impact, her body went limp. She just c...

"The Times" for women

I'm Getting better at recognizing what "times" and "season" mean and how we should respond to them. Ecclesiastes 3:1 -To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven: This verse is so powerful to me because it tells me that everything in life has it's time.  As a women, I have been guilty of trying to "do it all at one time".  I believe many of us, as women, have fellowship in this issue.  But learning everything has it's own time assigned to it, is helping me to keep things in perspective and it's keeping me from beating myself up so much. It also helps me to look for, wait for, and honor God's timing.  When women are on their menstrual cycle, that indicates that it's a time of the month to focus on some things concerning ourselves.  Cleansing,  our menstrual cycle should be a time of cleansing for us as it requires as to be particularly mindful of the cleansing of our bodies, and I believe that what...

Your "higher" calling

There is a consistency that will come into your life as you begin to discover the clarity of the voice that God gave you.  I believe we all exercise a variety of "voices" in our lives before we find our "true" voice, the voice that God gave us to speak to the "world".  I believe our "true" voice is the sum of our experiences, our unique God-given personality, and how God wants to use us to reach the world.  I believe every Christian has something with which God wants to reach the world.  See many of us never reach beyond our families.  But I don't think that's the pattern that Jesus sets for us.  He reached His family, but He was called to save the whole world .  What if Jesus was only willing to die for people in His family?  Where than would you and I be?  He does not overlook His family, because he had a role to play in his own family too, but those natural roles were too small, God always pulls you towards the "world"
