God inspires you through the Holy Spirit. It is the means by which God touches us and quickens us. I'm bringing up this whole word Inspiration because in the church I had learned in the past that you just had to discipline yourself to serve God. But that is not how God stated it in the scriptures below. Jesus did not tell the disciples to go discipline themselves to receive power from God He said go and wait for the promise of the Holy Spirit. Look below:
Acts Chapter 1 - 4 And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; 5 for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” 6 Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” 7 And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. 8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me[a] in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Why do I use the word "inspiration"? About 1 year ago, God showed me that the Holy Spirit works by inspiring us. Look Below:
2 Timothy 3:16
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
I'm am bringing this up because there are so many great things that we want to accomplish in life, but in some areas we may not feel like we are getting too far and there is temptation to be discouraged. But what God shows me, is that when I wait to be inspired by the Holy Spirit, I will see His power in that particular area of my life. I believe the key to this point, is to keep us from not stressing out over not seeing the results we want, in our lives, yet. This applies to any area. I have seen this over and over again from something as small as housework to something as big as raising our children. When I am having major problems in an area, getting something done. When I'm finding my efforts don't bear much fruit or I'm getting nowhere, I have to stop and wait on inspiration from the Holy Spirit. When that happens, it's amazing how quickly things get done. It's amazing how I will start to see change in issues with my children. Even in business, when you are in a real slump and you just don't know how to rise up and build, you have to wait for inspiration from the Holy Spirit. This is normally when you have tried and tried and tried and gotten not very far. Whatever God leads you to, He will provide you with the inspiration to thrive in it, but you have to be willing to wait on it. Look below at the word origin of inspiration:
Word Origin and History for inspiration
n. c.1300, "immediate influence of God or a god," especially that under which the holy books were written, from Old French inspiracion "inhaling, breathing in; inspiration," from Late Latin inspirationem (nominative inspiratio), noun of action from past participle stem of Latin inspirare "inspire, inflame, blow into," from in- "in" (see in- (2)) + spirare "to breathe" (see spirit ). Literal sense "act of inhaling" attested in English from 1560s. Meaning "one who inspires others" is attested by 1867.
When you begin to fill your life up with all that God as called you to, it means you need His inspiration for all of it. Once you fill your life up with faith steps at every move; faith is the only thing you can walk in. I have found that the more my life has been purged of my trying to accomplish things in my own efforts, the more I have had to rely on the inspiration from the Holy Spirit to get stuff done. I just felt like God wanted me to talk about inspiration today. Many people ask "How do you know God is leading you?" 3 things will happen when God is leading you.
1. You will be inspired to do something - You will feel motivated
2. You will have the wisdom to know what steps you need to take
3. You will have the strength to carry it out.
Does this mean, you can't get out and try some things out, just on a whim? Absolutely not. Just like a child, God wants His children to feel free to roam and discover the life that He has for them. The bible says that where the spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. Yes, we are suppose to be excited about trying out and discovering new things and not be afraid to do that. What I wrote above, was more focused on times when you are in need and you have tried different things and you really don't know what to do. I'm talking about when you need strength and you don't have it; wait to be inspired by the Holy Spirit. When you need wisdom and you don't have it; wait to be inspired by the Holy Spirit, when you need income in your life and you have applied to jobs, tried businesses but keep on coming up short; wait to be inspired by the Holy Spirit. When the Holy Spirit inspires you, it's not like when man inspires you. You can go to hear a motivational speaker and they might get you hyped to change your life, but they cannot give you all the wisdom, nor the strength to make that happen in your life. A motivational speaker cannot line up people you don't even know, in your favor, to bless you. A motivational speaker does not live on the inside of you and cannot call out from the inside of you, those things that be not as though they were. A motivational speaker has no idea what God has planned for your life, but the Holy Spirit does. The Holy Spirit will inspire you in the direction of God's amazing plans for your life. Let me assure you, God's plans are custom fit for you and you will love them, because He made you just for those plans He has for you. You and God's plans, for you, were literally a match made in heaven before you were even born. If you are trying to figure out where you fit, in this life, God will fit you right where you belong with the perfect fit, through the inspiration of His Holy Spirit.
Just as much as high winds cause tornados and can turn everything in a town on it's back, is how powerful the Holy Spirit is, to move you, right where you need to be.

Acts 2 New King James Version (NKJV)
Coming of the Holy Spirit
2 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord[a] in one place. 2 And
suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind,
and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
