Thoughts for Thursday

What should the Thursday expectations be?????  The week is winding down and today things didn't go exactly as I had wished, but it was a good day.  The week is winding down and I do have some deadlines that I would like to meet.  But I am reminded to not let those deadlines control me.  I cannot give those deadlines a position that they don't deserve.  As a work-at-home mom with 2 kids at home.  Everything must fall in it's proper order of priority on a daily basis.  My first priority is my thoughts towards God, my next priority is my kids.  My mornings are devoted to getting them out for a little while so they don't drive me crazy for the day and so I can get some work done when the time comes.  Noontime ushers in my work time.  My work time only gets about 2 hours of my day.  That's where it fits with my current priorities.  However, somehow God is blessing it and it works out.  The way I prioritize my day is motivated by my peace with God, my desire to be good to my husband, and my desire to be good to my kids.  There is a certain way that things have to fall in order to bring out the best in me and not the worst in me.  I prioritize myself to bring out the best in myself .  I believe that's important.  If you make alot of money or you are a star on your job, what does it matter if you are a jerk to everyone in your family because you're stressed out.  I think it's a good idea to be more in-tune with what the best rhythm is for your life.  My life felt out of rhythm for a while.  Not necessarily because of "what" I was doing, but more so because of "how" I was doing it.  It felt awkward and unnatural and I don't believe life is suppose to feel like that.  Especially because God destined me, before I was in my mothers womb, to become what He designed me to be.  Life should fit.  If life doesn't "fit" for you, it might not be because you need to change what you're doing, but
  maybe  you need to just change how you're doing it.  Find your rhythm.

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you;
Before you were born I sanctified you;
I ordained you a prophet to the nations.” (Spoken by God to Jeremiah in Jeremiah 1:5)

Think before you defend yourself

I get on social media and I do my best not to be critical of anyone.  It's not my place.  I do find it kind of interested how personal relationships, insecurities, and hurts are expressed where the whole world can see.  Social media is like this enigma that continues to spark my interest.  I find myself asking "why would he/she share something so deep and personal with people who don't know them or even care?".  I don't necessarily think it's a bad thing.  I just find myself being very curious and intrigued about why? There is one trend I see, on social media, that sparks a bit of concern.  The amount of time we spend defending ourselves and our decisions on social media.  I get concerned because I realize that when we spend a "noticeable" amount of time defending ourselves publicly, it is a strong indication that their is a much bigger private battle going on within .  Social media speaks volumes to me about inner battles we go through. ...

Liberty in parenting

Today I had a couple situations arise where  I sensed that The Lord was speaking to me.  I am a full-time stay-at-home mom and it's been almost 7 years.  One of the things I have been praying a lot about during those years is the bondage that can form for myself in this particular station in life.  When your kids have so much access to you all the time, it is hard to know how much to give.  You struggle with guilt and uncertainty.  This starts with nourishment when a baby is born.  One of the concerns I have heard from every mom of a newborn I have ever spoken with, including myself, is whether or not the baby is getting enough food.  Are they getting full??  This is the beginning of motherhood.  It becomes a defining factor in everything you do.  The first sense I got that God was speaking to me was this morning.  My 2 yr old son bugs me to play with him every morning while I am trying to eat and do my devotional.  So as ...

Starting your day

When I begin my day with a fast pace and a mind to "get things done" it really never ends well.  I burn out pretty fast.  When I take a "rest stop" at the very beginning of my day with God and linger a little, the day always goes better.  Micah 7:7 says: Therefore I will look to the LORD;       I will wait for the God of my salvation;       My God will hear me.  It seems as if when I don't start my day with God a cycle of self-dependence starts and it never ends well.  When I start my day with God, dependence on Him starts my day and He reminds me during morning devotional time to lean on Him to get through the day.  It helps me to not get "caught up"  I pray that for today, that I don't get caught up.  Noah is home from school, not feeling very well.  I just want to lean on God and trust Him to bring her comfort and help her to heal today.  I'm praying that I to would...
